Kindergarten Social Studies Curriculum {Little Social Studies Thinkers}

If you’ve ever struggled with planning and implementing effective, engaging social studies lessons in your kindergarten classroom, then please read on. This post is for you!

Maybe your district supplies you with a big-box curriculum that isn’t user-friendly. Maybe it creates too much work for you. Maybe it doesn’t hold your students’ attention. Or maybe you don’t have a curriculum and you are left spending your weekends piecing together ideas from Pinterest.

No more. I’m here to tell you how we can solve all of those problems with the Little Social Studies Thinkers Curriculum.

Little Social Studies Thinkers  is a complete curriculum specifically for Kindergarten
It’s everything you need to introduce, teach, practice, and assess your kinder friends.
It is cross-referenced and aligned to the main topics of Kindergarten Social Studies Standards.
This curriculum is 100% created by me, (and I can promise you that my products are never outsourced!). It contains everything you need in a neat, organized package.
It’s totally teacher friendly and student-approved!

I’m going to walk you through the format of the entire curriculum. First, let’s look at the units.

Unit 1 is now complete and available here. Let’s take a closer look at what is included!

Here is the breakdown of the major components of each unit.
The six-week unit is meant to be taught bi-weekly (twice a week) with 25-minute lessons. I know that your time is valuable and you need to make the most of every minute, so each lesson is jam packed with content and engagement

The lessons are quick-paced, written in teacher language, and Kinder-friendly. You could give these plans to a sub or student teacher, and there would be no question as to what they need to do! It’s all there for you.

  • Awesome! You're right not much time to teach the content areas. This is perfect. I have no idea how you have the time or come up with it all but I appreciate it and will definitely purchase it. Thank you!!!!

    • Thanks so much, Tracy! I know.. right!? I made them mini-lessons (20-25 mins) so that a teacher could use them twice a week and not feel overwhelmed. Thanks again! 🙂

  • Is there a list of standards covered in the packet? I am in Texas and will need to make sure it is aligned or covers our TEKS", Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills. Thank you!!

  • Do you have one of these for science also? I need to remember to grab this before Sunday night. It's in my cart now. Thank you!

  • Love this! Just what I needed to add to my SS curriculum. I was having such a hard time fitting it in with everything else! Thank you so much.

  • Is there anyway that you could give us a list of the mentor texts you'll use for Unit 2 a little before you release? I want to make sure I have them or have time to order them. If not no worries! My team and I were just discussing we have no idea what we technically teach for Social Studies since there are no standards and requirements yet. I am excited to start Unit 1 this week! Can't wait for the remaining units! Thanks so much for you amazing resources.
